Why Plant Trees?

Why Plant Trees?

Planting trees is one of the most rewarding actions you can take for the environment. Trees improve air quality, absorb carbon dioxide, provide shelter for wildlife, reduce noise pollution, cool urban areas, and enhance biodiversity. In rural settings, they can also help prevent soil erosion and support natural water cycles.

How This Course Works This course is self-paced and designed to guide you step-by-step through the tree planting process. You’ll progress through six core modules, each focusing on a specific part of the journey — from selecting your tree to caring for it after planting. You’ll find downloadable materials, checklists, and a final quiz to help reinforce your learning.

What You’ll Need to Get Started To get the most from this course, you’ll need:

  • A location to plant a tree (garden, yard, field, or community site)

  • Basic tools: spade, gloves, watering can or hose

  • A tree to plant — either container-grown or bare-root

  • A willingness to get outside and get your hands dirty!

You don’t need prior experience — just an interest in nature and a desire to make a positive impact.
